The short version. Your world lives in plain files on your disk. The app sends no telemetry and needs no account. The website uses cookieless analytics. If you join the email list, we store your address to send occasional updates and nothing else. Payment is handled by Gumroad; we never see your card.
Who we are
WorldFrame is made by Sturdy Robot, an independent studio run by Noel Jackson. For any privacy question or request, email hello@tryworldframe.com.
The app
WorldFrame is a local-first desktop application. Your world, characters, maps, timelines and manuscript are stored as plain Markdown and image files on your own device. That content never leaves your machine, and we cannot see it.
- No telemetry. The app does not track how you use it and sends us no usage data or analytics.
- No account. You do not create a WorldFrame account to use the app.
- License validation. To confirm your purchase, the app contacts our licensing service and sends only your license key and basic request data. It never sends your world content.
- Updates. The app checks for new versions and downloads them from our update service. This transmits no personal data beyond the standard request your device makes to any download.
The website
We use Cloudflare Web Analytics, which is privacy-first and cookieless. It reports aggregate figures such as page views and referrers. It does not set tracking cookies, does not fingerprint you, and does not build a profile of you across sites.
The email list
If you choose to submit your email address for updates, we store that address to send occasional product news. We use Cloudflare Turnstile to reduce spam submissions. We do not sell or share your address, and you can unsubscribe or ask us to delete it at any time by emailing hello@tryworldframe.com.
Purchases
Payments are processed by Gumroad. Your card and billing details are handled by Gumroad, not by us, and are covered by Gumroad's own privacy policy. We receive the information needed to fulfil and support your order, such as your email address and order details.
Your rights
You can ask us what personal data we hold about you, ask us to correct it, or ask us to delete it. Email hello@tryworldframe.com and we will respond within a reasonable time.
Children
WorldFrame is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect their personal data.
Changes
If this policy changes, we will update the date above and post the new version here. Material changes will be noted on the site.
